Before driving, this section of the manual describes the importance of driving safely and the responsibility of the driver to ensure safe use of the vehicle.
Pre-Collision System
The pre-collision system is designed to detect objects in the path of the vehicle and alert the driver to take evasive action or apply the brakes automatically to avoid or reduce the impact of a collision.
Functions of the Pre-Collision System
- Pre-collision warning: A buzzer will sound and an icon and warning message will be displayed on the multi-information display to urge the driver to take evasive action.
- Pre-collision brake assist: If the system determines that the possibility of a collision is high and the brake operation by the driver is insufficient, the braking power will be increased.
- Pre-collision braking: If the system determines that the possibility of a collision is extremely high, the brakes are automatically applied to help avoid the collision or reduce the impact of the collision.
- Emergency steering assist: This function assists in preventing lane departure by providing gentle steering input to help the vehicle stay in its lane.
The pre-collision system is enabled and the system determines that the possibility of a frontal collision with a detected object is high. However, the system will not operate in certain situations, such as when the vehicle has not been driven for a certain amount of time after the 12-volt battery has been disconnected and reconnected or when the shift lever is in R.
