Company History
Massey-Ferguson has a rich history dating back to 1847 when Daniel Massey set up a blacksmiths and farm implement shop in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada.
The company merged with Alanson Harris Son & Company Limited in 1891 and later with Harry Ferguson Ltd in 1953 to form Massey-Harris-Ferguson Ltd.
Key Milestones
1910: Developed the no. reaper-thresher, its first basic combine harvester.
1917: Launched its first tractor, the ‘Big Bull’.
1933: Built its first rubber-tyred tractor.
1938: Developed the first commercially available self-propelled combine harvester.
1958: Changed its name to Massey-Ferguson Ltd.
1974: Purchased leading construction and diesel engine manufacturer Hanomag Baumaschinen of Hannover, Germany.
1994: Became part of the AGCO Corporation.
