Security Notification

Medtronic has identified a potential security risk related to the MiniMedTM remote controller (MMT-500 or MMT-503) and corresponding insulin pumps.

The issue involves a potential vulnerability where an unauthorized individual could copy and play back wireless radio frequency (RF) signals to deliver an involuntary bolus of insulin.

Affected Devices

The following devices are affected:

  • MiniMedTM 508 pump
  • MiniMedTM ParadigmTM series insulin pumps (511, 512/712, 515/715, 522/722, 523/723, 523(K)/723(K), 530G, 551/751, 554/754)

Precautions

To minimize risk, users can:

  • Turn off Easy BolusTM feature when not in use
  • Be attentive to pump alerts
  • Avoid connecting to unauthorized third-party devices
