Safety Issue

GE HealthCare has identified a potential issue with certain versions of CARESCAPE monitors, where a mains power loss during active monitoring after CPU timekeeper battery replacement may cause the displays or monitors not to turn on after power restoration.

Actions to be taken by Customer/User

Continue using the monitor if the CPU timekeeper battery has not been replaced. If the monitor has had a CPU timekeeper battery replaced or if unsure, reinstall the host software using the software media provided.

In the event the monitor does not start up following a mains power loss, continue patient assessment with other methods until a replacement monitor or display has been connected.

Update facility planned maintenance schedules to remove CPU timekeeper battery replacement. Only change the battery if the “Service Monitor Error Code OxHOST11OO” error message occurs.

Download the revised Service and Supplemental Information Manuals from the GE HealthCare Customer Documentation Portal.

Destroy and/or delete all impacted versions of the Service Manuals, Supplemental Information Manuals, and delivery media.
