The PGY2 residency program in Medication-Use Safety and Policy is a one-year advanced training program designed to prepare residents to become subject matter experts in implementing medication-use system improvements and enhancing patient safety, compliance, and quality.

Program Overview

The program will provide residents with learning experiences in medication safety, health economics, and outcomes research, as well as exposure to automation and technology in medication management.

Required Learning Experiences

The program includes several required learning experiences, including medication safety, adult hematology, inpatient operations, community clinic, compliance and regulatory, clinical informatics, automation and technology, and formulary management and drug use policy.

Residents will also participate in various multidisciplinary committees and activities throughout the year to gain a comprehensive understanding of the medication-use process and system improvements.

A joint research project with City of Hope and BD will also be completed during the residency year.
