Introduction
The NEST360 Newborn Technology Landscape report highlights the importance of addressing neonatal mortality, with 2.5 million children dying in the first month of life globally.
The report focuses on the first 28 days of life, the neonatal period, which is the most vulnerable time for a child’s survival.
Objective
The report aims to provide a resource for the global community, highlighting the newest technologies available for newborn care in low-resource settings.
Context
Despite progress, many countries will miss the Sustainable Development Goal 3.2 target of reducing neonatal mortality to at or below 12 deaths per 1,000 live births by 2030.
Focused efforts are still needed to strengthen health systems to deliver neonatal care, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and South East Asia.
