The Nevro Senza system is a spinal cord stimulation (SCS) therapy system that provides pain relief without generating paresthesia.
Traditional SCS therapy delivers low frequency electrical pulses to the spinal cord, generating paresthesia to mask pain. However, this approach has significant failings, including limited efficacy and uncomfortable stimulations.
Nevro’s Pioneering Technology
Nevro’s SCS system uses a unique high frequency electrical waveform to provide pain relief without paresthesia. The system was approved by the FDA on May 8, 2015, with a “superiority” labeling designation.
Key Features
The Senza system utilizes Nevro’s patented HFIO therapy, which employs a much higher frequency than traditional SCS systems (10,000 Hz or 10 kHz). This approach provides more effective pain relief to a greater percentage of patients, including those with predominant back pain.
The system also provides patients with greater freedom of movement and activity, without the uncomfortable stimulations associated with traditional SCS therapy.
