Purpose & School Orders

This guide is intended to help school nurses with the basic operation of a student’s MiniMed 780G system.

Every student on the MiniMed 780G system should have signed orders from the student’s healthcare professional, including a backup plan if the pump is not able to be used to deliver insulin.

System Components

The MiniMed 780G system components include the insulin pump, infusion set, transmitter, insulin reservoir, and sensor.

Understanding the MiniMed 780G System

The MiniMed 780G system may be delivering insulin in one of two modes: Manual Mode and SmartGuard technology.

SmartGuard technology automatically adjusts basal insulin every 5 minutes based on sensor glucose (SG) readings and can deliver a correction bolus to help correct a high SG reading.
