Introduction

This document provides general guidance on how to process Stryker Trauma & Extremities medical devices to prepare them for use.

It includes instructions for cleaning, sterilization, inspection, and maintenance to ensure the devices are safe and effective for use.

Warnings and Precautions

Devices labeled “for single use” must not be reprocessed, and single use devices must not be reused.

Stryker Trauma & Extremities medical devices are not intended for use in surgical procedures where inactivation of prions is required.

Processing Instructions

The sequence of steps required to prepare medical devices for re-use or initial use includes removing gross soil, rinsing, disassembling where required, and using an aldehyde-free disinfectant bath.

Two methods of cleaning are provided: manual and automated using a washer-disinfector.

The quality of water used for cleaning and rinsing is important, and freshly prepared purified water or sterile water is recommended.

Staff should use suitable protective clothing and equipment at all times.
