Introduction

The guidelines provided in this manual describe the procedures for cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of transducers to ensure the safety of patients and operators.

Cleaning

Wear protective gloves to prevent infection, and wash off all organic materials from the transducer under purified water. Immerse the transducer in a cleaning solution or use wipes to dissolve or remove all remaining organic materials. Rinse the transducer under purified water to remove all residual organic materials and cleaning solution.

Disinfection

Disinfect the transducer as required, wearing sterile protective gloves. Rinse the transducer thoroughly with sterile or deionized water to remove all chemical residues.

Sterilization

Sterilize the transducer and biopsy adaptor before and after an ultrasound-guided biopsy procedure is performed. Failure to do so may result in the transducer and biopsy adaptor becoming sources of infection.

Observe the safety precautions and guidelines outlined in this manual to ensure the proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of the transducers.
