Overview

The Fingertip Pulse Oximeter is a handheld, non-invasive device intended for spot-checking of oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2) and pulse rate of adult, adolescent, and child patients in hospitals, hospital-type facilities, and home-care environments.

The device uses two frequencies of light (red and infrared) to determine the percentage of hemoglobin in the blood that is saturated with oxygen.

Operating Principles

The device works by applying a sensor to the fingertip, which contains a dual light source and photo detector. The light source emits two wavelengths of light (660nm and 905nm), which are absorbed by the blood in varying amounts, depending on the oxygen saturation level.

Features

The device has a simple and convenient design, with a colorful OLED display that shows SpO2, PR, and pulse waveform. It has two display modes and can be powered by two AAA alkaline batteries.

Safety Precautions

The device should be used with caution and under the guidance of a healthcare professional. It is not intended for continuous monitoring and should not be used in explosive atmospheres or near magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) equipment.
