Risk of Insulin Dripping into Cartridge Compartment
If users do not follow the step-by-step cartridge change process, small amounts of insulin could drip into the cartridge compartment, potentially damaging the piston rod and limiting or blocking the insulin pump motor function.
This issue can result in E6 (mechanical error) or E10 (cartridge error) messages and may prevent insulin delivery as intended.
Enhanced Handling Instructions
Roche Diabetes Care has enhanced its handling instructions, user training material, and professional training programs to ensure safe and reliable use of the Accu-Chek Spirit and Accu-Chek Spirit Combo insulin pumps.
Users are advised to assemble the cartridge, adapter, and infusion set tubing before inserting the new cartridge into the insulin pump to avoid the risk of insulin dripping into the cartridge compartment.
