Overview
The Zilog 216C30 is a CMOS Universal Serial Controller (USC) device featuring two independent full-duplex channels, each with two baud rate generators and a digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) for clock recovery.
Key Features
The device supports multi-protocol operation, including async, byte-oriented synchronous, bisync, transparent bisync, and HDLC/SDLC modes, with various programmable options for character length, parity, and error detection.
It also features 32-byte data FIFOs for each receiver and transmitter, a 110 ns bus cycle time, and a 16-bit data bus.
The device is available in 68-pin PLCC and 100-pin VQFP packages and is designed for low power consumption.
