The X9259 integrates four digitally controlled potentiometers (DCPs) on a monolithic CMOS integrated circuit, each with 256 resistor taps and 0.4% resolution.

The DCPs are implemented with a 2-wire serial interface for write and read operations, and each has associated volatile Wiper Counter Registers (WCRs) and four nonvolatile data registers.

Key Features:

Single supply operation from 2.7V to 5.5V, low power CMOS, and Pb-Free (RoHS compliant).

Endurance of 100,000 data changes per bit per register, and 100-year data retention.

Applications:

The X9259 can be used in a wide variety of applications, including control, parameter adjustments, and signal processing, such as:

– Varying the gain of a voltage amplifier

– Providing programmable DC reference voltages for comparators and detectors

– Controlling the volume in audio circuits

– Trimming out the offset voltage error in a voltage amplifier circuit

System-level applications include adjusting the contrast in LCD displays, controlling the power level of LED transmitters, and setting the operating points in temperature control systems.
