x9258-low-noise-low-power-2-wire-bus-256-taps-quad-digital-controlled-potentiometers-xdcp.pdf

The X9258 is a quad digital controlled potentiometer (XDCP) integrated circuit that features four 256-tap potentiometers, a 2-wire serial interface, and nonvolatile storage of wiper positions.

Each potentiometer has a volatile Wiper Counter Register (WCR) and four nonvolatile Data Registers (DR0:DR3) that can be directly written to and read by the user.

Key Features

Four potentiometers in one package, 256 resistor taps, 0.4% resolution, wiper resistance of 400Ω typical, and four nonvolatile data registers for each potentiometer.

Standby current is less than 5μA max (total package), and power supplies range from Vcc = 2.7V to 5.5V, V+ = 2.7V to 5.5V, and V- = -2.7V to -5.5V.

Applications

The X9258 can be used as a three-terminal potentiometer or as a two-terminal variable resistor in a wide variety of applications, including control, parameter adjustments, and signal processing.
