Product Overview

The VICOR V048F160T015 VI Chip® current multiplier is designed to deliver high efficiency, speed, and density, and is suitable for advanced power applications that require isolation from input to output. The device offers a nominal output voltage of 16 Vdc from a 48 Vdc input with a factorized bus (VF), and this output voltage can be adjusted from 8.67 to 18.3 Vdc under variable load conditions within an input voltage range of 26-55 Vdc. This flexibility supports both open- or closed-loop operation, accommodating singular or parallel use to meet the power level requirements of multiple applications.

The component features a rapid response time of less than 1 µs, capable of providing up to 15 A continuously, and 22.5 A for brief durations (<100 ms). It can function at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 125°C, and can tolerate peak temperatures up to 245°C during the reflow process (for items with a date code from 1001 onwards).

Absolute Maximum Ratings

Important electrical characteristics include an isolation voltage of 2,250 Vdc, continuous output current of 15 A with the capability to handle peak output currents up to 22.5 A for 100 ms, and peak output power of 401 W also for short durations (1 ms). The storage temperature range is specified as -65°C to 125°C, and the operating junction temperature ranges from -55°C to 125°C.

Note on Operating Conditions

The referenced junction temperature for the shutdown comparator is defined by the semiconductor component with the highest temperature. There are different product grades specified such as T-Grade and M-Grade, which are associated with moisture sensitivity levels (MSL) 5 and 6 respectively, indicating a floor life of 4 hours at a temperature of 30°C and a humidity of 60%.
