Product Overview
The VH CONNECTOR series features a 3.96 mm pitch with a disconnectable crimp style suitable for a wide range of applications. Mainly used in consumer electronics, these connectors are reliable, with a high current carrying capacity. The current rating is marked at 10 A AC/DC for wires sized AWG #16, while the voltage rating is 250 V AC/DC. They are designed to withstand a broad temperature range from -25C to +85C, essential for various operating environments.
Performance and Technical Attributes
The initial contact resistance is no more than 10 mΩ, increasing only to a maximum of 20 mΩ post-environmental tests, indicating its reliability even after exposure to adverse conditions. The connectors also boast a high insulation resistance of over 1000 MΩ, and they have excellent withstanding voltage capabilities, surviving up to 1,500 VAC per minute in testing. Designed for PCBs with a thickness of 1.6 mm, they are applicable for wires ranging from AWG #22 to #16.
Safety and Compliance
Users are advised against parallel current branching that exceeds the rated current due to potential imbalance issues. JST recommends using phosphor bronze contacts and designing circuits to prevent imbalances. For detailed handling precautions, users are directed to the “Handling Precautions for Terminals and Connectors” on the manufacturer’s website. Moreover, the connector series is fully compliant with RoHS2 directives, ensuring it meets current environmental safety standards.
Physical Characteristics and Packaging
Featuring a compact design, VH CONNECTORS facilitate secure contacts and mounting, offering varieties such as locking headers in top entry or side entry types, and shrouded headers. Each connector’s specific dimensions and layout for PC board design are provided on the datasheet. Quantities per reel vary based on the model, illustrated by entries such as the SVH-21T-P1.1 and SVH-41T-P1.1, with quantities of 4,500 and 3,500, respectively. Contact elements are made from phosphor bronze with a tin-plated finish, undergoing reflow treatment for enhanced quality. In terms of housing and retainers, different models with varying circuit numbers, dimensions, and quantities per bag are outlined.
Certifications and Standards
These connectors are recognized under various standards, namely E60389, LR20812, and R75122, ensuring compliance with international benchmarks for safety and compatibility. Additionally, there are model-specific designations for electric shock prevention, such as the VHR-M type for higher voltages. For automatic crimping applicators, clients are requested to contact JST directly.
