Summary of Vernitron Series 3300 Connector Datasheet
The Vernitron Series 3300 connectors are designed to offer enhanced safety through their pre-grounding feature, which ensures the grounding contact is engaged before any other contacts. These connectors are U.L recognized and CSA certified, eliminating the need for hand-cutting contacts for safer connections and therefore provide a cost-effective solution with the lowest installed cost. Series 3300 connectors are available in a wide range of styles for both chassis and cable mounting and come with a variety of mounting hardware and locking devices. Detailed specifications and sizes for these connectors are available on pages 8-12 of the datasheet.
Features and Applications
These connectors are fully interchangeable with Series 300 type connectors and are suitable for panel and cable mounting, featuring a 10 amp, 750-volt rms electrical rating. They are utilized in various applications, including office machines, communication systems, security systems, vending machines, medical equipment, amusement machines, test equipment, data processing equipment, and more.
Installation and Configuration
C-clips are provided for simplified panel mounting that requires no drilling or fastening with screws, bolts, or rivets, thus halving the installation time. Three sizes of SCC Tools make inserting C-clips even quicker. The user must specify the panel thickness where the C-clips are to be installed. Contact orientation is specified for sockets and the opposite for plugs, with heavy-duty polarizing/ground contacts in designated positions for select connector models.
Contact Specifications and Options
Vernitron provides a broad selection of contact tails, including options such as solder eye, quick connect, printed circuit, and wire wrap. The plug contacts are made of brass and plated with cadmium, while the socket contacts are made of phosphor bronze with a double-wipe feature. The pre-grounding contacts can handle up to 30 amps at rated voltages. Users have the option to choose from silver, gold, or rhodium contact plating.
Materials and Design
The base insulating material is high-grade phenolic in black color. The backshells are available in standard thermoplastic or metal (option M), with handles available for certain models. Hardware components such as the cable clamp and screws are electroplated with bright nickel, while the brackets and backshells feature a black wrinkle enamel finish over zinc chromate plating. Sizes, positions, and styles are detailed, including pre-grounding styles, and the document notes that higher voltages are considered depending on contact arrangements and the requirements for the equipment in which these connectors are used.
