Vernitron presents its Series 5400 pre-grounding plug and socket connectors, designed with safety and convenience in mind. These connectors offer the significant advantage of an extra long grounding contact that engages before any other active contacts when mated, ensuring a safer electrical connection. Recognized by U.L. and certified by CSA, these connectors eliminate the need for the costly and time-consuming process of manually cutting contacts to ensure pre-grounding. Adding a “G” to the catalog number, such as FG-5411-CCT or SG-5411-DB, specifies the pre-grounding model when ordering.

Key Features and Benefits

Constructed for both chassis and cable mounting scenarios, the 5400 series connectors include a molded flange that neatly conceals the mounting hardware for a cleaner installation. The connectors facilitate rapid mounting using exclusive C-clips that require no drilling, fastening with screws, bolts, or rivets, significantly reducing the installation time. They are interchangeable with Series 2400 and have a unique securement system that works by sliding on C-clips.

Electrical Specifications

For robust electrical applications, individual contacts can handle 15 amps and are rated at 1750 volts rms, with appropriate deratings for higher voltages or operating in excess of 250 volts ac/dc, in accordance with the specifications for the electrical equipment being used. A specific hand tool, SCC-4, is recommended for inserting C-clips, expediting the installation of connectors.
