vel-chip-regulator-datasheet.pdf

The Vel Chip Regulator is a high-density, non-isolated regulator capable of both boosting and bucking a wide range of input voltages (38-55 Vdc). It is designed to provide a controlled Factorized Bus distribution voltage for powering downstream VTM Transformer fast, efficient, isolated, low noise Point-of-Load (POL) converters.

Key Features

The regulator features an adaptive loop feedback ZVS buck-boost topology with a 1.0 MHz switching frequency, achieving 97% efficiency and operation up to 125°C (Tj). It has a small footprint of 1.11 in² and a low weight of 0.5 oz (15 g).

Applications

The Vel Chip Regulator is part of Vicor’s Factorized Power Architecture (FPA), which offers high density and efficiency, low noise operation, architectural flexibility, fast transient response, and elimination of bulk capacitance at the Point-of-Load (POL). It is suitable for use in DC-DC converter systems requiring high power density and efficiency.
