- Transformer-coupled DC-DC converters
Description
The UCx84x series provides the necessary features for implementing fixed-frequency current-mode control schemes. The ICs include an undervoltage lockout (UVLO) feature with startup current less than 1mA, a precision reference trimmed for accuracy, and an error amplifier input. Additionally, other internal circuits such as a PWM comparator, provide current-limit control, and a totem-pole output stage designed to source or sink high-peak current. This output stage is suitable for driving N-channel MOSFETs and is low in off state.
Package and Temperature Options
Different models within the UCx84x series are offered in a variety of package types and are specified to operate over different temperature ranges. UC184x devices operate from -55°C to 125°C, UC284x devices from -40°C to 85°C, and UC384x devices from 0°C to 70°C. Package types include CDIP, LCCC, CFP, SOIC, and PDIP with different body sizes detailed in the data sheet.
For detailed package specifications, reference should be made to the orderable addendum at the end of the datasheet. The data sheet also includes a simplified application diagram for the UC2843, depicting the connections of VCC, OUTPUT, VREF, ISENSE, VFB, RT/CT, GROUND, and COMP pins, emphasizing the IC’s role in the power supply control ecosystem.
An important notice included in the data sheet addresses aspects related to availability, warranty, changes, use in safety-critical applications, intellectual property matters, and other significant disclaimers that are essential for users and designers considering these components for production use.
