Overview
The UC1524A, UC2524A, and UC3524A, a series of advanced regulating PWM ICs, are engineered by Texas Instruments to provide an enhanced version of the industry-standard UC1524 series. Offering full interchangeability with standard UC1524 family devices, these advanced regulators integrate improvements that address limitations of previous designs without compromising power supply performance.
Features
Key features of the UC1524A family include a highly precise 5V reference with ±1% accuracy, a robust error amplifier, high-performance current limit function, under-voltage lockout with hysteresis, start-up supply current under 4mA, and superior output current capability of up to 200mA with 60V output. Additionally, the series boasts wide common-mode input ranges for both error and current limit amplifiers, ensures single pulse per period operation with double pulse suppression, and provides thermal shutdown protection.
Enhanced Functionality
Significant enhancements such as the PWM latch, which prevents multiple pulsing within a period, and noise-tolerant logic to eliminate double pulsing, elevate the performance of these ICs. With a faster 200ns external shutdown and automatic thermal protection, the UC1524A boasts improved operating features.
High-Frequency Operation & Synchronization
The oscillator circuit is designed for high-frequency operation beyond 500kHz and offers simplified synchronization with external clocks.
Package Options and Ratings
These ICs are available in a variety of package options. The UC1524A comes in a hermetic 16-pin DIP and operates from -55°C to +125°C. The UC2524A and UC3524A are available in either ceramic or plastic packages with operating temperature ratings from -40°C to +85°C and 0°C to +70°C, respectively. Surface mount versions are also available.
Absolute Maximum Ratings
The datasheet specifies the absolute maximum ratings for the ICs, including a supply voltage of 40V, collector supply voltage of up to 60V, and an output current of 200mA for each output. It also outlines the maximum forced voltage and current ratings pertinent to pin configurations and operational temperature ranges.
Electrical Characteristics
Comprehensive electrical characteristics cover the turn-on thresholds and currents, output voltage precision, line and load regulation, temperature stability, short circuit current, output noise voltage, and long-term stability. Ensuring reliability, these parameters are designed in but are not 100% tested in production, indicating a balance between detailed quality oversight and manufacturing efficiency.
