Overview
The TANFILM® Precision Chip Resistors – PFC Series are high-quality resistors designed for demanding applications. They are specifically engineered to meet MIL-R-55342 standards, ensuring their suitability for military and other high-reliability environments. The resistors feature a passivated Tantalum Nitride film system that is designed to provide exceptional temperature and long-term stability.
Key Features
Wrap around termination: This design feature ensures robust mechanical and electrical connections.
TCR to 5 ppm/°C: The resistors offer a low Temperature Coefficient of Resistance, ensuring performance is maintained across a range of temperatures.
Tolerance to 0.02%: The high tolerance level indicates precise resistance values, which is critical for sensitive applications.
Terminations: A non-leaching nickel barrier is used, which helps to resist solder-leaching issues and ensures stable solder connections.
Performance and Reliability
The chips are capable of continuous high-temperature operation and power handling, dissipating up to 1/4 watt without degradation (for size 1206). They have been selected and processed for optimal precision maintenance in even the harshest surface-mount soldering environments.
Specifications Summary
Resistance Values: They range from very low to 125K ohms, depending on the model and application (commercial or military).
Environmental Performance: The resistors exceed typical military Grade requirements, with superior characteristics in areas such as thermal shock, low-temperature operation, short time overload, high-temperature exposure, effects of soldering heat, and moisture resistance.
Temperature Range: Operating between -65°C to +150°C, providing flexibility for various operating conditions.
Power Rating: The power rating varies from 50mW to 250mW based on the model and application context (commercial or military).
Voltage Rating: Voltage rating diverse from 40 volts to 300 volts, depending on the model and whether it’s for commercial or military use.
Product Options
The resistors come in several model sizes including 1206 and 0805, with the ability to order specific resistance tolerances and temperature coefficients.
How to Order
Ordering is simplified through a structured part number system, which includes a model size, tolerance, termination designator, and resistance value code.
Manufacturing and Support
The IRC’s Advanced Film Division produces these resistors, based in Corpus Christi, Texas. They provide technical support through phone and fax lines.
