The T Series Subminiature Rocker Switches datasheet provides detailed information about compact rocker switches designed primarily for telecommunications, instrumentation, and medical equipment. These switches, notable for their small footprint, are available in single and double-pole models, with options for PC and panel mounting to accommodate different installation requirements. Additionally, the switches are RoHS compliant, adhering to restrictions on the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
Models and Specifications
The switches come in various models with differing contact ratings: The TX01 models nominally rated at 3 AMPS for either 120 VAC or 28 VDC. All other models have a 2 AMP rating under the same voltage conditions. Detailed electrical specifications for alternative ratings can be found on page G-49 of the full datasheet.
The TX01 versions have an electrical life of 60,000 make-and-break cycles at full load, while other models are rated for 30,000 cycles. Desirable electrical characteristics include contact resistance below 20 milliohms initially and an insulation resistance above 10² megohms. Dielectric strength is a minimum of 1000 Vrms at sea level, and operating temperature ranges from -30°C to 85°C.
Materials
Several materials are employed in the construction of these switches: Cases are made from either glass-filled nylon or diallyl phthalate, both flame retardant and heat stabilized. The actuator is fashioned from standard black nylon, while the bushing comprises nickel-plated brass. The housing and mounting bracket use stainless steel, and the switch support consists of matte-tin plated brass.
Contacts vary by material, with end contacts made from copper alloy plated with gold or silver. Center contacts and terminals share similar materials. Components are sealed with epoxy, and hardware is stainless steel with a standard nylon standoff.
Build-A-Switch
The datasheet also includes a “Build-A-Switch” feature allowing for customization of the switch by selecting from various options detailed on pages G-46 through G-50. Options include different switch functions, such as “On-None-On” (T101) and “Mom-Off-Mom” (T205), as well as actuator styles (J1, J6), terminations (right angle PC thru-hole, solder lug, etc.), contact materials (gold, silver, gold over silver), and actuator color (black).
All models have an epoxy terminal seal ensuring compatibility with “bottom-wash” PCB cleaning methods. Customers requiring unique or custom switches are advised to consult the Customer Service Center.
