Overview
KEMET’s SMD MLCCs with COG Dielectric for voltage ratings of 10 V to 250 V combine stability with a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to +125°C. Recognized by the Electronics Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (EIA) as a Class I material, COG dielectric capacitors offer exceptional temperature compensation and are suitable for applications where capacitance stability and performance are essential. These include resonant circuits and environments where consistently high Q values must be maintained.
Benefits
These capacitors demonstrate remarkable stability, exhibiting negligible capacitance changes with temperature, voltage, and time. Available in multiple case sizes from EIA 0201 to 2225, they offer capacitance ranges from 0.5 pF to 0.47 μF, with tolerances from ±0.10 pF to ±20%. With their low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and Equivalent Series Inductance (ESL), high thermal stability, as well as high ripple current capability, these capacitors ensure reliable performance. Additionally, no piezoelectric noise is present, making them ideal for a variety of applications. All capacitors are lead (Pb)-free, satisfying EU RoHS and REACH regulations.
Ordering Information
The order code for a capacitor is formed by a combination of the rated case size, capacitance value, capacitance tolerance, rated voltage, dielectric, and termination finish. Customers can specify their requirements accurately to include the desired capacitance, size, and voltage rating.
Environmental Compliance
Committed to environmental compliance, these capacitors meet lead (Pb)-free requirements and conform to RoHS and REACH standards without exemptions. KEMET provides various termination finishes, including a 100% pure matte tin-plated finish for superb solderability.
Packaging Options
Available packaging options include bulk bag and tape & reel, with additional customization available for case sizes and pitch options. Laser marking is an option but not available for all packages. Notably, capacitors in “Unmarked” packaging have not undergone laser marking.
Applications
Appropriate for critical timing and tuning within circuitry, the capacitors serve numerous roles such as in high current, decoupling, bypass, filtering, transient voltage suppression, blocking, and energy storage. Their design facilitates use in both line frequency environments and applications extending into the MHz range.
Qualification/Certification
KEMET’s commercial grade products are internally qualified with tests described in detail in their Performance and Reliability table. The certification ensures that customers consistently receive products that meet high-quality standards.
