Materials
The SMA straight plug is made from various materials, including:
- Stainless steel (ASTM A582, Alloy 303) for the body and coupling nut
- Virgin white Teflon (ASTM D1710, Grade Type Class “B”) for the insulators
- Beryllium copper (ASTM B196, Alloy C17300, Temper TD04) for the contact retaining ring
- Seamless low-lead brass tube (ASTM B75, Type C12000, Temper: Light Anneal 050) or seamless copper tube for the crimp sleeve
- Brass (ASTM B16, Alloy C36000, Temper H02) for the bushing
Finishes
The plug features various finishes, including:
- Passivate per SAE-AMS-2700 for the body and coupling nut
- Bontact gold plate per ASTM B488 Type 5 for the contact
- Stress-free sulfamate nickel per AMS QQ-N-290 for the body and coupling nut
- Nickel plate per AMS-QQ-N-290, Class Grade G for the bushing
- Copper per AMS 2418 for the crimp sleeve
