Description

The Fixed Voltage Series DO-214 (PxxxIS) consists of uni-directional SIDACtor® components developed by Littelfuse, which are engineered to shield SLICs (Subscriber Line Interface Circuits) from harmful overvoltage transients. These devices are specifically designed to offer single line protection, utilizing a fixed voltage switching element to manage negative surges. Additionally, an integrated diode within the components directs all positive surges towards a ground reference, ensuring comprehensive protection.

Features and Benefits

The series is RoHS compliant, lead-free, and halogen-free, signifying environment-friendly attributes. They exhibit the following characteristics: low voltage overshoot and low on-state voltage. Importantly, the surge capability of these components remains unimpaired after experiencing multiple surge events within specified limits. In extreme cases where the surges surpass the components’ ratings, they are designed to fail in a short circuit condition, which can be a beneficial safety feature.

Applicable Global Standards

These SIDACtor® Protection Thyristors meet numerous global standards, which makes them suitable for a wide variety of applications across different regions. Some of these standards include TIA-968-A, TIA-968-B, ITU K.20/21 (both Enhanced Level and Basic Level), GR 1089 (both Inter-building and Intra-building), IEC 61000-4-5 2nd edition, and various YD/T standards.

Agency Approvals

The series has received agency file number E133083, indicating recognition and approval from a reputable certification body.

Pinout Designation

The datasheet provides a pinout designation to help identify the cathode on the schematic symbol.

Electrical Characteristics

A table within the datasheet presents detailed electrical characteristics for the protection thyristors. These include parameters such as capacitance at 1MHz with a 2V bias, minimum and maximum voltage (Vmin and Vmax), minimum and maximum holding current (mA min and mA max), and maximum peak pulse current (A max). The part numbers along with corresponding markings are also listed to identify specific component values.

Additional Information

It should be noted that absolute maximum ratings are measured at an ambient temperature of 25°C unless stated otherwise. The components are not suitable for positive ringing systems. Moreover, Littelfuse reserves the right to modify specifications without prior notice, as stated in the document dated 12/21/2020.
