PA Family Series Connectors Datasheet Summary

The PA Family Series datasheet provides detailed information about JST’s range of connectors, including the PA, PAF, and PAL series, designed for secure wire-to-board and wire-to-wire connections with a 2.0 mm pitch.

General Specifications

These connectors are divided into crimp style (both standard and retainer mountable types) and IDC style. They are engineered to meet the complex requirements of wire harnesses and feature a secure locking mechanism. The main standards met by these components include Recognized E60389.

PA Connector Features

The PA connector series includes socket and header types and boasts current ratings of 3 A AC/DC for wire sizes AWG #22. The voltage rating is 250 V AC/DC, and they operate in a temperature range from -25°C to +85°C (including temperature rise in applying electrical current). These connectors offer excellent contact resistance, with an initial value of 10 mΩ max, and after environmental tests, a max of 20 mΩ. The insulation resistance is at least 1,000 MΩ initially, and the withstanding voltage is up to 800 VAC/minute. Applicable wires range from AWG #28 to #22 with specific insulation outer diameters, and they are suitable for PC board thicknesses of 1.6 mm.

PAF Connector Features

PAF connectors, designed for IDC connections, have a current rating of 1.0 A for AWG #26, with identical temperature and voltage ratings as the PA series. They exhibit similar contact and insulation resistance characteristics and are compatible with specific types of wires such as UL1061 (further details can be acquired by contacting JST).

PAL Connector Features

The PAL series, wired to wire crimp style connectors, are notable for being the industry’s first wire-to-wire 2.0 mm pitch retainer mountable type connector. They support current ratings of 3 A for AWG #22, voltage ratings of 100 V AC/DC, and have the same temperature range as the other series. These connectors are designed with four locking points on the retainer for surety.

Additional Features

All connectors in the PA family boast a secure locking device, are interchangeable between crimp and IDC sockets, include secondary retainers, support various harnesses, and have a highly reliable contact system featuring an insertion guide mechanism. The PAF and PAL connectors also include a metallic strain relief and can be selected with or without a panel lock based on application requirements. For environmental compliance, the series meet RoHS2 standards.

Lastly, the datasheet mentions that for usage precautions and technical details, users should refer to the ‘Handling Precautions for Terminals and Connectors’ available on JST’s website. It also provides a list of combinations for various types of sockets, headers, contact parts, and housings specific to this family of connectors.
