Overview
This handbook provides guidance on the Standard Microcircuit Drawing Program (SMDP) under the DoD Parts Management Program (PMP). It aims to eliminate the need for multiple contractor-prepared drawings for the same device by providing a standardized approach.
Scope and Purpose
The SMDP is implemented by MIL-HDBK-512 and screens candidate parts for the SMDP. The handbook covers the purpose, part or identifying number (PIN), drawing number, device class designator, case outline, lead finish, and substitutability of microcircuits.
Key Features
The handbook includes information on applicable documents, definitions, requirements, configuration management, distribution, and requests. It also provides tables and appendices listing microcircuits, approved sources of supply, and radiation hardness assurance (RHA) levels.
