Overview

The L1-Series by Precision Devices Inc. (PDI) consists of hermetically sealed quartz crystals presented in resistance-welded surface-mount (SMD) and through-hole packages. They are engineered to comply with demanding specifications and are available in standard or custom frequencies. PDI ensures quick sample turnaround for prototype development, with the capacity for mass production and competitive pricing.

Key Features

Frequencies: Offered in a wide range, from 4.000MHz to over 99.999MHz, with a specific part capable of reaching 100.00MHz.

Modes of Operation: Crystals can operate in the Fundamental mode or the 3rd Overtone.

Tolerance and Stability: At 25°C, frequency tolerance can be as precise as ±10ppm, with options for ±25ppm, ±50ppm, or customized values. Frequency stability is also tailored with options like ±25ppm, ±50ppm, ±100ppm, or special configurations.

Operating Temperature Ranges: Devices can accommodate various ranges, from 0°C to +70°C, with options extending down to -40°C, and up to +85°C, as well as specific demands.

Load Capacitance: Load values range from 8 to 99pF. The Legacy Part Numbering Configuration indicates a system for part designation prior to 02-01-2014, which remains in use for existing designs.

Electrical Characteristics

Depending on the frequency range, the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) varies, presenting maximum values that decrease with higher frequencies. Drive levels are typically at 100µW, the shunt capacitance does not exceed 5.0pF, and the maximum aging per year is specified at ±5.0ppm. Insulation resistance is maintained at a minimum of 500 megaohms at 100Vdc ±15V.

Packaging and Part Numbering

The series offers a choice between Surface Mount technology, specifically the SE Series available on Tape & Reel, and through-hole packaging. Part numbering includes a system to represent frequency, mode, frequency stability, operating temperature, and load capacitance, where the suffix ‘(X)’ denotes a standard specification or a placeholder for customization details.

Legacy Part Numbering Configuration

Devices designed prior to February 1, 2014, follow a legacy part numbering system that remains applicable to these designs. This includes notation for frequency, mode, frequency stability, operating temperature range, load, and packaging.

Additional Information

The datasheet is marked as Revision NA, Size A, and includes a CAGE code for tracking. It is the first of a three-page document, suggesting that further detailed specifications and information are available on subsequent pages.
