Overview

The Intersil X5168 and X5169 devices are a series of CPU supervisors that incorporate a 16Kbit SPI EEPROM memory with block lock protection. They are designed for power-on reset control, supply voltage supervision, and memory protection. The integration of these functions results in lower system cost, reduced board space, and increased reliability.

Operating Mechanism

These devices commence the power-on reset function upon receiving power, which holds the RESET/RESET active, permitting the power supply and the oscillator to stabilize. The low Vcc detection mechanism maintains RESET/RESET active below a specific voltage threshold ensuring system integrity during low voltage conditions. The resetting continues until Vcc recuperates to a stable operating level.
