Overview of Hallogic Hall-effect Sensors

The Hallogic Hall-effect Sensors OH09OU, OH18OU, OH36OU, OHN3000 Series, OHS3000 Series, OHN3100 Series, and OHS3100 Series are monolithic integrated circuits designed by OPTEK Technology for non-contact switching operations and diverse automation applications. These sensors operate over a broad supply voltage range from 4.5V to 24V, can handle temperatures in harsh environments, and have a drive capability of up to seven TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) loads.

Features

The sensors offer a unique on-chip band gap voltage regulator enabling stable operation across various voltages. The output remains consistent at switching frequencies from DC to over 200 kHz, providing up to 21 mA of sink current. This current capability is optimal for directly driving TTL loads or various standard logic families.

Types of Sensors

Two types of sensors are stated in the datasheet, the Uni-Polar and the Bi-Polar latch device. The Uni-Polar version activates with a logic level “0” when a sufficient south pole magnetic field approaches the device and deactivates once the magnetic field recedes to a minimum value. The Bi-Polar latch type responds similarly to the south pole for activation but requires the presence of a north pole to deactivate, switching to logic level “1”. This bi-polarity makes the device suitable for operations necessitating alternating magnetic forces, providing flexibility in application design.
