Product Overview

The datasheet presents information on the GBU6O05 GBU61O series, which are 6.0A Glass Passivated Bridge Rectifier Diodes, suitable for printed circuit board applications. The devices are characterized by their robust glass passivated die construction and have a superior case dielectric strength of 1500 VRMS. Designed for optimal reliability, these bridge rectifiers maintain low reverse leakage current while handling a surge overload rating up to 175A peak.

Physical and Mechanical Properties

Constructed in a GBU case, the rectifiers are encapsulated in molded plastic with a UL 94V-0 flammability classification, indicating safety in case of fire. The terminals, which are plated leads, are solderable per MIL-STD-202 Method 208 and offer a lead-free tin finish. To ensure proper installation and polarity identification, the rectifiers are marked on the body, are designed for through-hole mounting compatible with a #6 screw, and should not exceed 5.0 inch-pounds of torque. Each unit weighs approximately 6.6 grams.

Electrical Characteristics

These rectifiers operate efficiently with a single-phase, 60Hz load, whether that is resistive or inductive. For capacitive loads, it is recommended to derate the current by 20%. The peak repetitive reverse voltage (VRRM), working peak reverse voltage (VRWM), and DC blocking voltage (VR) vary per model, from 50V up to 1000V. Each device sustains a 6.0A average forward rectified current at a case temperature (Tc) of 100°C. Peak forward surge current is rated at 175A, and forward voltage per element is 1.0V at 3.0A current.

In terms of reverse current, at normal operating temperatures of 25°C, the devices exhibit low leakage, and if the case temperature rises to 125°C, the reverse current remains within controlled limits. Each rectifier is capable of supporting a considerable amount of fusing current for short time durations, less than 8.3ms. Typical total capacitance per element is 500pF, while the junction-to-case thermal resistance is specified to be 2.2°C/W, ensuring satisfactory heat dissipation. These components can operate and be stored within a temperature range of -55°C to +150°C.

Certifications and Compliance

The GBU6O05 GBU61O rectifiers comply with the RoHS directive, indicating they are free of hazardous substances. They are also recognized under the UL component index, with file number E94661, indicating a level of industry-recognized safety and reliability.
