Product Overview
The G6K Surface Mounting Relay range is noted for its remarkably small footprint, designed for high-density mounting configurations on printed circuit boards (PCBs). These relays are characterized by their subminiature size—5.2mm in height, 6.5mm in width, and 10mm in length. The lightweight design, weighing just 0.7 grams, facilitates high-speed mounting processes.
Electrical Specifications
This line of relays provides reliable electrical isolation with a dielectric strength of 1,500 volts AC. They also adhere to FCC Part 68 regulations, accommodating impulse withstand voltages of 1,500 volts for 10 x 160 microseconds. Specific models (denoted with “~Y”) are designed to comply with Telcordia specifications and can withstand impulses of 2,500 volts for 2 x 10 microseconds. All standard models are certified to UL/CSA standards and compliant with BSI (EN62368-1).
Design and Construction
Construction highlights include a surface mounting terminal framework that allows for efficient infrared irradiation during soldering processes. The relays also offer different terminal arrangements including a 2.54-mm pitch design, enabling diverse application uses. Rated carry currents for these devices are up to 2A, making them suitable for a broad range of electronic devices.
Applications and Ordering Information
G6K relays are suitable for use in various fields such as telecommunications, office automation, test and measurement equipment, building and security systems, industrial and amusement machinery, as well as home appliances.
For ordering, various relay functions are available, such as single-side stable and single-winding latching models. G6K relays come in different contact forms, including DPDT with 2 poles (“2c”), and they offer packaging options such as tube or tape packing. Minimum ordering units may vary, and for tape packaging orders, relays are supplied in reels of 800 (900 pcs x 2 reels).
Environmental Compliance
The G6K series embraces environmental standards, being RoHS compliant, which restricts the use of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic equipment.
Installation and Packaging Notes
When ordering the G6K relays, it’s essential to specify the coil voltage by tailoring the model number accordingly. Tape packed models should include the suffix “-TR” although this notation will not appear on the relay casing itself. Standard models with Surface Mounting Terminals (SMT) are shipped in moisture-proof packaging, while PCB terminal models do not require such packaging due to the non-moisture-sensitive design.
