The G3O/SMG30 MCOM is a voltage-controlled attenuator module with a broad operating frequency range from 100 to 2000 MHz. It is designed for swift and reliable performance in various applications requiring precise attenuation control.

Design and Packages

The G30 attenuator is a discrete hybrid design that utilizes thin-film manufacturing to ensure accurate and consistent performance, as well as high reliability. It incorporates three pin diodes for a non-linear attenuation response across the frequency spectrum. Moreover, the attenuator comes in different packaging options including TO-8, Surface Mount, and SMA Connectorized. The connectorized version is particularly noted to be not RoHS compliant.

With an impedance (Zo) of 50Ω and a supply voltage (Vcc) of +15 V, the device operates typically at a temperature of 25°C, with certain performance guaranteed in the range of 0 to +50°C and from +55°C to +85°C. Performance Characteristics

Other important performances are characterized by the worst-case VSWR of 1.4:1 at 0-25 dB Attenuation and up to 2.2:1 beyond 25 dB Attenuation. Attenuation flatness over frequency ranges from ±0.5 dB at 100-1000 MHz to ±1.7 dB at 1000-2000 MHz. The switching speed for 0% to 90% and 0% to 100% is less than 0.2 microseconds.

Control Specifications

The bias voltage is set at +15 volts, with a maximum control voltage ranging from 0 to +15 volts. The bias current does not exceed 12 mA, while the control current is limited to a maximum of 10 mA.
