cylindrical-16-dia-pushbutton-switch-a16-series-datasheet.pdf

The A16 series Pushbutton Switches, featuring a detachable construction and a miniature 28.5 mm cylindrical 16-dia design, are among the smallest in their class. Noteworthy for their versatility, they can handle both standard and micro loads with the same contact types. The terminal arrangement simplifies the wiring process, and the switches comply with safety standard EN 60947-5-1.

The series includes options for different shapes such as square, round, and rectangular, and various terminal types like solder, PCB, and screw-less clamp models. While the switches offer the flexibility of lighted and non-lighted versions, their degree of protection ranges from IP40 for general use to IP65 for oil-resistant applications.

Model Variants

A16L]-J Series, A160-A Series, A160]-T Series correspond to solder terminal models; A16L]-J Series, A16D]-A Series, A16D]-T Series to PCB terminal models; with the addition of voltage-reduction lighting models and screw-less clamp versions. It is important to note that only the screw-less clamp models support DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) contacts.

Model Number Structure

Model numbers consist of a set of units, which includes the pushbutton, lamp for lighted models, case, and switch. Details of combinations and ordering information are provided on subsequent pages.

Features and Options

A key feature lies in switch operation types: momentary and alternate, where momentary switches reset themselves, and alternate can maintain their state. Color options for the pushbutton span red, yellow, pure yellow, green, white, blue, pure white, and black.

Light Sources and Operations

Options for light sources include incandescent lamps and LEDs, with rated operating voltages varying according to the selected light source, including options at 5V, 12V, 24V, 100/110V, and 200/220V. However, solder terminals are limited to models with 100-V voltage rating, and voltage reduction units aren’t available for PCB terminal models. The built-in LEDs are available in various colors, and a particular model “T2” is associated with screw-less clamp types.

The datasheet emphasizes that while the switches are easy to install and offer a streamlined wiring setup, safety precautions are vital, and these are discussed in detail on page 24. Thus, Omron’s A16 series pushbutton switches cater to versatile applications thanks to their robust design, safety compliance, and customizable options.
