The AXICOM FX2 Relay is a 2 pole telecom signal relay designed for Through Hole Type (THT) mounting. This relay is available in polarized and non-latching or latching coil versions and is specifically tailored for applications within the telecom industry, offering features such as dry circuit, test access, and ringing capabilities.

Versions and Certifications

This relay is noted for its various versions and relevant certifications. Included among the versions are a sensitive non-latching version with a coil, a highly sensitive non-latching version with a coil, and a latching version with a coil. The FX2 Relay conforms to international standards with certifications including CSA-C22.2 No. 14-95, CSA-C22.2 No. 950-95, UL 508, and it complies with CECC 16504-002.

Features

The slim line form factor measures at 15 x 7.3 mm (0.590 x 0.287 inches). Its switching current is rated at 2 A and it houses 2 changeover contacts, also known as 2 form C contacts or DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw). It has bifurcated contacts for improved reliability, and features high sensitivity which leads to nominal power consumption rates of 80 mW for the high sensitivity version and 140 mW for the standard sensitivity variant.

Safety and performance are prioritized, with high dielectric characteristics capable of withstanding ≥1800 Vrms, even between open contacts. The relay’s electrical insulation is categorized as supplementary insulation according to IEC EN 60950 and UL 1950, with a working voltage of ≥300 Vrms and a mains supply voltage of ≥250 Vrms. It can handle a repetitive peak voltage of 2500 V, is flammability classified as V-O, and can operate at temperatures up to 85°C.

In terms of electrical resilience, this device boasts high surge capability and meets the stringent requirements specified by Bellcore GR 1089 and FCC Part 68, withstanding up to 2500 V between open contacts and 3500 V between coil and contacts. From a physical perspective, it is designed to handle mechanical shock up to 300 G functionally and up to 1500 G for survival.

Typical Applications

Due to its specifications, the AXICOM FX2 Relay is suitable for a wide array of applications. It can be used in communications equipment like linecard applications in analog, ISDN, xDSL, and PABX systems, as well as Voice over IP technology. It’s also suitable for office and business equipment, measurement and control equipment, consumer electronics such as set-top boxes and HiFi systems, and even medical equipment.
