Overview of ATC 800 Series NPO Ceramic High RF Power Multilayer Capacitors

The ATC 800 Series capacitors are designed to deliver high RF power performance with low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) for applications from Very High Frequency (VHF) through microwave frequencies. Known for high Q, ultra-stable performance, and high reliability, these capacitors also feature RoHS compliance and are lead-free.

Key Electrical and Mechanical Characteristics:

Capacitance Range: 2.2 pF to 3000 pF within a compact (.250″ x .250″) footprint.
Quality Factor (Q): Greater than 5,000 for 2.2 pF to 1000 pF at MHz and for 1100 pF to 3000 pF at KHz frequencies.
Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC): 0 to +30 PPM/°C, applicable across a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.
High Insulation Resistance: Minimum 10⁵ Megohms at +25°C and 10⁴ Megohms at +125°C under rated Working Voltage Direct Current (WVDC).

Environmental and Durability Features:

Thermal Shock: Meets MIL-STD-202, Method 107, Condition A.
Moisture Resistance: MIL-STD-202, Method 106, indicating robustness in high-humidity conditions.
Life Test: Capacitors tested per MIL-STD-202, Method 108 for 2000 hours at 125°C.
Terminal Strength: The terminations can withstand a pull of a minimum of 10 lbs for 5 seconds, as tested per MIL-STD-202, Method 211.

Applications and Usage:

These capacitors can be used in a variety of functions such as bypassing, coupling, tuning, impedance matching, and DC blocking. They are well-suited for circuit applications including HF/RF power amplifiers, transmitters, antenna tunings, plasma chambers, and medical devices like MRI coils.

Different models within the series offer capacitance values ranging from 2.2 to 3000 pF with assorted WVDC ratings, ensuring versatility for specific requirements. Tolerance options include ±0.1 pF, ±0.25 pF, ±0.5 pF, ±1%, ±2%, ±5%, and ±10%.

Ordering Information:

Part numbers may be specified with or without the “ATC” prefix; both designations are considered equivalent. ATC accepts orders using either method. Standard packaging options are the Matrix Tray and Tape and Reel, with special packaging available upon consultation with the factory.
