Overview

The ATC 800 B Series is a range of NPO ceramic high RF power multilayer capacitors designed for consistent and reliable performance in high RF power applications. The capacitors come in a rugged case size B (0.110″ x 0.110″) and offer a capacitance range from 0.1 pF to 1000 pF. They are distinguished by their ultra-low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR), facilitated by conductive metal electrodes and proprietary dielectrics, optimized for RF power applications including frequencies from VHF through microwave levels.

Technical Specifications

With a Quality Factor (Q) of 2000 at 1 MHz and a Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC) of 0 ±30 PPM/°C across the operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C, the capacitors demonstrate minimal performance fluctuation due to temperature changes. Their Insulation Resistance (IR) is high, and they exhibit no aging effects nor piezoelectric effects, ensuring stable capacitance over time and with applied voltage or pressure.

The capacitors are available with various Working Voltage (WVDC) ratings as indicated in the accompanying table. They can endure 250% of their rated WVDC for 5 seconds (Dielectric Withstanding Voltage), and show Capacitance Retrace of less than (0.02% or 0.02 pF) and Capacitance Drift of ±(0.02% or 0.02 pF), defining their reliability under stress.

Applications and Features

These capacitors are ideally suited for use in filter networks, combiners, couplers, matching networks, output and antenna coupling circuits, as well as DC blocking and bypass in systems such as broadcast transmitters, wireless communications, public safety radio, avionics, telecom, WiMAX, microwave communications, and satellite systems.

Environmental Compliance and Quality Assurance

The capacitors meet or exceed EIA-198, MIL-PRF-55681, and MIL-PRF-123 standards, with Thermal Shock and Moisture Resistance compliance as defined by MIL-STD-202. They can survive a Life Test of 2000 hours at 125°C with 200% WVDC applied. Terminal strength tests confirm robust design, withstanding significant pull force without damage.

Capacitors are identified by an ATC part number code denoting series, case size, capacitance, tolerance, and packaging. Capacitance Tolerances offered include ±0.1 pF, ±0.25 pF, ±0.5 pF, ±1%, ±5%, ±10%, and ±20%. Customers can order with or without the “ATC” prefix.
