ATC 700 A Series Multilayer Capacitors Overview

The ATC 700 A Series NPO Porcelain and Ceramic Multilayer Capacitors are designed for a broad range of RF and microwave applications, delivering minimum drift and low noise performance. These capacitors exhibit excellent high self-resonance and zero Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC), ideally suited for applications such as Bypass, Coupling, Tuning, DC Blocking, Filters, Oscillators, and Timing circuits.

Key Features and Specifications

Capacitance values range from 0.1 pF to 1000 pF, with the Quality Factor (Q) being greater than 10,000 for capacitances between 0.1 pF to 100 pF and greater than 2000 for 110 pF to 1000 pF. The series offers a Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC) of 0 to +30 PPM/°C (-55°C to +125°C) and an Extended Working Voltage (WVDC) of up to 250 VDC.

Insulation Resistance (IR) ranges from 10^6 Megohms min. @ +25°C for capacitances up to 470 pF, and 10^4 Megohms min. @ +125°C for the entire range. Max Dielectric Withstanding Voltage (DWV) is set at 250% of the rated WVDC for five seconds. The capacitors are robust, with a rugged, hermetic package construction, capable of undergoing various environmental tests, including thermal shock, moisture resistance, low voltage humidity, and life test, without showing aging effects or piezoelectric effects.

Environmental Compliance and Quality Assurance

The capacitors meet and exceed the requirements of standards such as EIA-198, MIL-PRF-55681, and MIL-PRF-123, and are suitable for use in challenging environmental conditions. Moreover, the series supports a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to +125°C without a derating of the working voltage.

Capacitance Values and Part Numbering System

The first two digits of the capacitance code represent the significant digits of the capacitance in picofarads, the letter indicates the number of zeros following, and the tolerance code is represented by a letter (e.g., J for +/-5%). The capacitors are available laser marked with ATC’s identification, capacitance code, and tolerance.

Termination styles include various surface mount options, and terminals can withstand a pull of 5 lbs. min. and 10 lbs. typical, making the capacitors reliable in terms of terminal strength.

Contact Information and Ordering

ATC components can be ordered using part numbers with or without the “ATC” prefix, both methods being equivalent. For further enquiries or to order the capacitors, customers can reach out to ATC offices in North America, Europe, or Asia, or visit the ATC website.
