The ATC 700 A Series NPO Porcelain and Ceramic Multilayer Capacitors datasheet presents information on high-performance capacitors designed for RF/Microwave applications. The capacitors’ size is denoted as Case A, with a square dimension of .055″ x .055″, and they offer a capacitance range from 0.1 pF to 1000 pF.
Key Features
The capacitors are highlighted for their Low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR)/Equivalent Series Inductance (ESL), Zero Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC), Low Noise, and High Self-Resonance. This series is engineered to have excellent performance across various RF and microwave applications, requiring minimal drift.
Quality and Reliability
Constructed with high-density porcelain and ceramic, these capacitors are noted for their rugged, hermetic package and established reliability, meeting or exceeding the standards of EIA-198, MIL-PRF-55681, and MIL-PRF-123.
Electrical Specifications
The Quality Factor (Q) is greater than 10,000 for capacitances ranging from 0.1 pF to 100 pF and greater than 2000 for 110 pF to 1000 pF. The Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC) is maintained at 0 +30 PPM/°C in the temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. Insulation Resistance (IR) varies by capacitance value but is a minimum of 10^6 Megohms for most of the range at or above +25°C.
Working Voltage and Environmental Tests
Capacitors support an Extended Working Voltage (WVDC) up to 250 VDC with a Dielectric Withstanding Voltage (DWV) of 250% of rated WVDC for 5 seconds. Environmental testing includes Thermal Shock, Moisture Resistance, and Low Voltage Humidity. These capacitors exhibit no aging effects, no piezoelectric effects, and a very low capacitance drift (±0.02% or 0.02 pF).
Operating Temperature Range and Terminal Styles
The operating temperature range is quite broad, from -55°C to +125°C, without derating of working voltage. Various surface mount termination styles are available, which are detailed on page 3 of the datasheet.
Terminals and Life Test
The terminals are strong, able to withstand a pull of 5 lbs (min), 10 lbs (typical), for 5 seconds. Additionally, the capacitors undergo a Life Test per MIL-STD-202 Method 108, for 2000 hours at 125°C.
