FEATURES AND BENEFITS

The A3950 is a DMOS full-bridge motor driver designed for PWM control of DC motors. It features low Ron outputs, overcurrent protection, motor lead short-to-supply and short-to-ground protection, sleep function, synchronous rectification, diagnostic output, internal undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and crossover-current protection.

DESCRIPTION

The A3950 is suitable for PWM control of DC motors with peak output currents up to +2.8 A and operating voltages up to 36V. It has PHASE and ENABLE input terminals for controlling the speed and direction of the DC motor with externally applied PWM control signals. The device features internal synchronous rectification control circuitry to reduce power dissipation during PWM operation.

PACKAGES

The A3950 is available in two packages, the 16-pin TSSOP with an exposed thermal pad (Package LP) and the 16-pin QFN with an exposed thermal pad (Package EU). Both packages are lead (Pb) free with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.

TYPICAL APPLICATION DIAGRAMS

A typical application diagram shows the connections between the A3950 and a DC motor, with PWM control signals applied to the PHASE and ENABLE input terminals.

ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The A3950 has several electrical characteristics, including motor supply current, output current, sense voltage, and input voltage. The device also features overcurrent protection, internal undervoltage lockout (UVLO), and thermal shutdown with hysteresis.
