Key Features
These headers come with optional ejector latches and are shrouded to protect against physical and chemical damage to the pins. Physical Specifications
The insulator material is composed of glass-filled polyester (PCT) with a UL 94V-0 flammability rating and a black color. Wiping areas feature 30 µ” (0.76 µm) gold plating, while the solder tails are available in either 200 µ” (5.08 µm) 60/40 tin-lead or 300 µ” matte tin. Electrical and Environmental Characteristics
3M’s N4600 Series headers support several current ratings: 4.75A for line powered, 2.25A when adjacent lines are powered, and 1.25A when all lines are energized. Ratings are based on a maximum temperature rise of 30°C and come with a 20% derating. Insulation resistance exceeds 1×10^9 Ω at 500V, and the headers can withstand up to 1,000 V(rms) in withstanding voltage. The environmental temperature rating spans from -55°C to +105°C, with a process temperature of 260°C as per J-STD-020C. These headers come with a Moisture Sensitivity Level rating following the same standard.
Variants and Part Identification
Different variants of the header are available, including models with no ejector/latch, with a short ejector/latch for 3M sockets without strain relief, and with a long ejector/latch for 3M sockets with strain relief. The headers also feature notches (A, B, C) for 3M polarization keys and can accept various sizes of machine screws and nuts. Mounting ears provide mechanical protection to the solder joints and are recommended for all applications where space allows; otherwise, ejector latches should be employed.
