Overview

The 3M Mini D Ribbon (MDR) Connectors 050″ Boardmount Thru-Hole Right Angle Receptacle-Shielded 102 Series are designed for reliable and repetitive plugging with a rugged, die-cast metal case construction. These connectors are suitable for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and made with PCT insulator materials. They feature a wiper-on-wiper contact design and are compatible with the IEEE 1284C interface as a 36 contact connector.

Key Features

The connectors come in various contact numbers ranging from 14 to 100. An RoHS compliant version with a -PC plating suffix is also available. Screw or ground locks ensure dependable PCB retention, and an interface latch design maintains connection stability.

Materials and Plating

The insulation is created from Glass-Reinforced Polyester (PCT) with UL 94V-0 flammability rating in a beige color. Contacts are made of Copper Alloy (C521) with gold plating on the wiping area meeting MIL-G-45204 standards. The solder tail plating details are provided in the ordering information. Body material consists of a Zinc Alloy with Nickel plating. The shroud and latch hook material are made of steel, also Nickel-plated, and the connectors are marked with the 3M logo and part number.

Electrical Properties

These connectors have a current rating of 1 Ampere, insulation resistance greater than 5 X 10⁸ Ohms at 500 VDC, and can withstand a voltage of 500 Vrms for a minute.

Environmental and Process Ratings

They can operate within a temperature range of -55°C to +105°C and are reflow solder process compatible up to 240-250°C for 10 seconds. Further, they align with the RoHS directive 2002/95/EC, signifying restriction of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Contact dimensions vary according to the contact quantity, presented in a detailed table format. Tail lengths are standardized at 15 [3.9mm], with a special order option available.
