Particularly suitable for the military sector, these headers integrate 3M’s 3518 & N3518 polarizing keys and offer center bump polarization to assure correct mating. Additional optional features include ejector latches for easy disconnection and polarizing posts to prevent mismating.

Design and Features

A key feature of the 3000 Series headers is their assembly convenience, highlighted by mounting holes for secure attachment to circuit boards. Users looking for components compatible with high-temperature processes will appreciate the headers’ insulator options. The high-temperature insulator alternative is designed to withstand “no lead” soldering procedures and is also fit for reflow soldering using “paste in hole” techniques. Both Tin-Lead and Matte Tin solder tail options are provided to cater to different soldering preferences.

Materials and Specifications

The 3000 Series insulators are made from Glass Filled Polyester (PBT) or Glass Filled Polyester (PCT) for the high-temperature option, both being UL 94V-0 flammability rated. The color schemes for PBT and PCT insulators vary, offering options such as gray, beige, and black. Copper alloy is used for the contacts with a nickel underplating and available gold plating on the wiping area.

Electrical Properties

These headers can handle a current rating of 2A (per EIA 364-70), while maintaining an insulation resistance of more than 1×10⁹Ω at 500 VDC. With a withstand voltage capacity of 1000V RMS at sea level, these connectors ensure reliable performance across various operating conditions.

Environmental and Certification

The temperature range is broad—from -55°C to +105°C—and the headers are rated for a high process temperature of 260°C, but only with the PCT insulator version following a single pass profile per J-STD-020C. They also meet the conditions for Moisture Sensitivity Level, applicable to PCT high-temp versions. The connectors are certified under UL File No. E68080.
