Overview
The 28536 CIO is a general-purpose peripheral circuit that satisfies most counter/timer and parallel I/O needs in system designs.
It features two independent 8-bit, double-buffered, bidirectional I/O ports plus a 4-bit special-purpose I/O port, and three independent 16-bit counter/timers.

Programmable polarity and direction for I/O ports, four handshake modes, and flexible pattern-recognition logic.
Counter/timers have up to four external access lines per counter/timer and three output duty cycles (pulsed, one-shot, and square-wave).
All registers are readable and writable, making it easy to use and interface with popular microprocessors.
