Product Overview
The 24V Micro Family by VICOR consists of compact and efficient DC-DC converter modules that have power densities up to 91W per cubic inch. Designed to serve a variety of industries including industrial and process control, medical, ATE, communications, defense, and aerospace, these converter modules offer input ranges from 18V to 36V with output options from 3.3V to 48V. With operational temperatures ranging from -55°C to +100°C, these units are suited for diverse applications.
Key Features and Benefits
The modules offer a range of features including isolated output, a programmable output ranging from 10 to 110%, load regulation within ±0.4%, and up to 89% efficiency under full load conditions. They are capable of sustaining input surges of 50V for 100ms, and they can continue to operate on the input down to 16V with 75% power post start-up. The modules boast a high-frequency Zero-Voltage Switching (ZCS) or Zero-Current Switching (ZVS) architecture, ensuring low noise and high efficiency, making them well suited for applications which require minimal electromagnetic interference. Additionally, they are RoHS compliant with specific pin options, and can be mounted in parallel with N+M fault tolerance.
Module Specifications
The input specifications of the modules include an operating range of 18V to 36V, an undervoltage turn-on of approximately 17.9V, and overvoltage protection at about 36.3V to 39.6V. Output specifications articulate the voltage set point accuracy, line and temperature regulation specifics, and power sharing accuracy. The units support a programming range for different output voltages, with specific absolute maximum ratings provided for each voltage category.
Thermal Management
Regarding thermal resistance and capacity, the datasheet specifies the resistance from the baseplate to the sink and ambient, both with and without airflow. The thermal capacity is also provided, offering guidance for thermal management in application.
Customization
The datasheet allows for a variety of customization options including product type, product grade, output power, pin style, finish, baseplate type, and output voltage, detailed in a product numbering example for easy reference.
Note
It is important to adhere to the permissible load currents during normal, abnormal, and test conditions. Users are advised to refer to design guides and application manuals for detailed operational parameters, and supplemental information is found on page 10 regarding output connections.
