Overview of Series 3300 Connectors
The Series 3300 connectors by Vernitren are designed for enhanced safety, featuring U.L. recognized and CSA certified pre-grounding. They showcase an elongated grounding contact which engages prior to any other active contacts during mating, eliminating the need for contact shortening while ensuring a secure connection. By negating the necessity for hand cutting, these connectors provide cost and time efficiency, resulting in the lowest installed cost.
Variety and Compatibility
With a wide range of styles suitable for chassis and cable mounting, the Series 3300 connectors are versatile. They come with diverse mounting hardware and locking devices. They are also completely interchangeable with Series 300 type connectors and are outlined in detail starting on page 8 through 13 of the catalog, including sizes and dimensions.
Electrical Ratings and Applications
The electrical rating for individual contacts in these connectors is 10 amps at 750 volts rms. When current rating and voltage exceed 250 volts AC or DC, they adhere to specific regulations based on the electrical equipment in which they are used and related operating temperatures. The connectors are ideal for a variety of applications including office and communication equipment, security systems, machine controls, vending machines, medical and amusement machines, test equipment, data processing, and educational devices.
Easy Mounting with C-Clips
The Series 3300 is particularly notable for its quick and simple panel mounting using SCC C-clips. This method requires no drilling or fastening with screws, bolts, or rivets—merely sliding on the C-clips secures the connector. The clips fit neatly into a groove and firmly hold the connector body. When ordering, customers must specify the panel thickness in thousandths of an inch or millimeters.
SCC Tools for Installation
Vernitren provides hand tools specific to the Series 3300 to facilitate even faster installation of C-clips. These tools come in three sizes tailored to connector models, from SCC-1 for model 3303 to SCC-3 for model 3312.
Contact Orientation and Polarization
The datasheet also details the polarization arrangement numbers for sockets, which are visible from the wiring side, with the plug numbering being the opposite. There’s specific mention of a heavy-duty polarizing/ground contact positioned at 14 for certain models (3324, 3327, and 3330) and at 17 for model 3333, implying the connectors can be configured for specific wiring arrangements.
