Fuel Evaporation Emission Control System
The system is designed to comply with regulations governing fuel vapor emissions in the United States and Canada.
It eliminates direct venting of the fuel tank and carburetters, preventing the release of unburnt hydrocarbons into the atmosphere.
Components
The system consists of an activated charcoal canister, fuel tank vent, carburetter weakener unit, float chamber vent, and purge line filter.
The canister absorbs and retains fuel vapor from the carburetter float chambers and fuel tank.
The purge line filter and restrictor control the flow rate of air drawn through the canister.
Operation
When the engine is running, air is drawn through the canister, extracting fuel vapor for consumption in the engine.
The system is designed to maintain carburetter metering accuracy and prevent blockage of the restrictor.
