Important Notice: This PSIS (Product Support Information Sheet) has been issued to inform parts and service personnel of a wiring modification to the buckle switches on the seat belt pre-tensioners. If a vehicle enters the workshop with an owner complaint of airbag warning light illumination and codes are stored for; Drivers seat belt buckle switch resistance undefined intermittent Passenger seat belt buckle switch resistance undefined intermittent, the following modification to the wiring should be carried out.
Procedure:
The procedure involves rewiring the buckle switch circuit, resulting in the removal of two connectors. The process is broken down into two parts: right-hand drive vehicles and left-hand drive vehicles. The steps include:
* Remove the front seats and carpet on both sides
* Disconnect and insulate the seat belt buckle switch connector
* Place a new connector on the link loom and reconnect the switch connector
* Run the link loom under the console carpet and secure it to the seat harness
* Perform power splicing of specific cables
This modification aims to resolve issues with electrical resistance in the buckle switch circuit, which may cause airbag warning lights to illuminate and codes to be stored.
